SOME DETAILS OF THE MEMBERSHIP
The principal qualification for MICCI membership is that members should have an interest in international business. International interest does not have to include equity, and to date over 20 per cent of the MICCI membership comprise wholly Malaysian owned companies. Membership Categories There are about 1,000 corporate members of MICCI. Of these, 75 per cent are full members and the remainder are either “supplementary” members, which are linked with another MICCI member, or “associate” members which do not qualify for full membership, but which for various reasons can contribute to the Chamber’s objectives, and which enjoy all the benefits of full membership except that they have no voting rights. Members Participation All members are entitled to participate in the 30+ standing committees, sub-committees and workgroups currently active. Members are also encouraged to attend MICCI meetings with government agencies and to contribute to numerous private sector / public sector dialogues in which MICCI is involved. Regular social and networking events are also held. Nationality Spread Over 30 countries are represented within the MICCI membership and include most major trading nations. The more substantial representations are from Malaysia, USA, Japan, UK, Singapore, Holland, Germany, France, and Australia. Business Spread Approximately 30 per cent of the MICCI membership is involved in manufacturing, 15 per cent in trading, 15 per cent in banking and financial services and the remainder spread over the rest of the business spectrum including professional services. Almost all business sectors are represented within the Chamber.
