MemberShip Categories

The main qualification for membership is that “any person, firm or company” should have overseas and international interests beyond Malaysia”. Such interests do not have to include equity, and to-date approximately 20 per cent of the membership comprise wholly Malaysian owned companies.

MemberShip Categories

There are currently approximately 1,000 corporate members. Of these, 75 per cent are ordinary members and the remainder are either “supplementary” members, which are connected corporately to an ordinary member, or “associate” members which do not qualify for ordinary membership, but which for various reasons can contribute to the Chamber activities, and which enjoy all the benefits of ordinary membership except that they do not have a vote at a General Meeting.

There is an entrance fee of RM500 and the annual subscription varies from RM1,125 to RM3,100 depending on whether the company feature in category A,B,C or D.

Where a company qualifies in more than one membership category, the higher category rates will be applied

Ordinary  A

Companies with issued capital over RM2.5 million and/or with over 200 employees

RM 3,100.00

Ordinary  B

Companies with issued capital from RM250,001 to RM2.5 million and/or with over 51 - 200 employees

RM 2,250.00

Ordinary  C

Companies with issued capital from RM100,000 to RM250,000 and/or with 10 - 50 employees

RM 1,650.00

Ordinary  D

Companies with issued capital less than RM100,000 and/or with less than 10 employees

RM 1,125.00

ASSOCIATE

Any organisation that is not eligible for the above ordinary membership

RM 1,550.00

ENTRANCE FEE

RM 500.00 (for the 1st year only)

Nationality Spread

To date over 30 countries are represented amongst the membership and these include most of the major trading nations of the world. The more substantial representations are from the U.S., Japan, U.K., Singapore, Holland, Germany, France, Australia and Switzerland.

Business Spread

Approximately 30 per cent of the membership are involved in manufacturing, 15 per cent in trading, 15 per cent in banking and financial services and the remainder spread over the whole business spectrum. It is difficult to find a sector that is not represented in the Chamber.
