How did life begin on Earth? Our planet is 4.5 billion years old, but the oldest microbial life existed around 3.8 billion years ago. The field of Astrobiology is a broad-based study of the origins of life and the search for life beyond Earth. This field has significantly grown since the 1960s, and there is an increased need to train the next generation of astrobiology researchers and educators around the globe.
