[ECKL Diplomatic Encounters] 4th Lecture Series with Australian High Commissioner-designate to Malaysia, H.E. Ms Danielle Heinecke

The Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur (ECKL), a leading platform for elite leaders to discuss critical global issues with top-tier business executives, proudly presents the Fourth Lecture Series of the ECKL Diplomatic Encounters. This initiative aims to fortify Malaysia's international relationships through engaging dialogues with ambassadors and high commissioners on a broad spectrum of topics, including economic, trade, political, diplomatic, societal, and security matters. For our 4th Lecture Series, we are honoured to welcome the Australian High Commissioner-designate to Malaysia, H.E. Ms Danielle Heinecke.

The enduring partnership between Australia and Malaysia is marked by substantial bilateral trade, with Malaysia standing as Australia's second-largest ASEAN trading partner and 8th globally, boasting a total two-way trade value of A$33.5 billion in 2022. Our educational exchanges are equally significant, with over 300,000 Malaysians having graduated from Australian institutions, and more than 15,000 Malaysian students enrolled in Australian universities in 2022 alone. The defence relationship is highlighted by the Australian Defence Forces' ongoing presence at the Royal Malaysian Air Force Base Butterworth. Moreover, the vibrant Malaysian diaspora in Australia, numbering over 172,000 individuals, plays a crucial role in enriching Australia's multicultural fabric. As we approach the 70th anniversary of our diplomatic relations in 2025, these deep and diverse connections underscore our mutual commitment to economic growth, security, and strengthening our societal bonds. During her address, the High Commissioner-designate will elaborate on Australia's Economic Strategy to 2040 and reflect on Prime Minister Anwar's recent visit to Australia, which includes the announcement of 24.5 billion AUD in committed investments. The session will also feature an interactive Q&A segment, encouraging a lively exchange with attendees.
