The Johor Bahru leg of the roadshow held on 27 May 2025 at Holiday Villa, marked the fourth event in the series. The Industry Excellence Award, a biennial initiative by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI) continues to serve as a prestigious platform to celebrate business excellence across Malaysia.
The roadshow opened with a keynote address by YBrs. Encik Azmir Musyabri Abdul Mutallib, Director of AKI (Outreach and Shares Division). In his speech, he emphasized that the award is an effort by the government to recognize companies that have demonstrated excellence in their management practices, the quality of their product and services, and their continuous efforts to deliver greater value to stakeholders.
Renowned for its rigorous evaluation process and high selection standards, the award ensures that only the most deserving companies are recognized. Assessments are conducted based on the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF), which serves as a comprehensive benchmark for organizational performance.
Following the keynote address, representatives from MITI’s Outreach and Shares Division, ESG Division, and SIRIM shared important information, including:
-
The seven award categories, with the Prime Minister’s Award being the highest distinction, accompanied by a cash prize of RM 500,000.
-
The benefits of participation, such as increased recognition, bench marking opportunities, and access to developmental support.
-
The eligibility requirements for participating companies.
-
The scoring criteria, aligned with international standards of business excellence.
The final presentation was delivered by a representative from the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), who provided an in-depth briefing on the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF) and its application in assessing participating companies.
At the conclusion of the roadshow, participants were invited to visit the clinic kiosks stationed at the venue, where they could seek further clarification and obtain additional information from designated personnel.
MICCI Southern Region was represented by our Chairman, Mr. Lee Ting Kiat and our Manager, Ms. Olivia Chin, - reaffirming our support for initiatives that drive business excellence and competitiveness in the industry.
